Chengdu CHIFFO Electronic Appliance Group Co., Ltd., originally established in 1958 as China’s first radio measurement instrument factory, “State-Owned CHIFFO Radio Instrument Factory” (Electronics Industry Department Factory No. 766), was the largest electronic instrument research and production factory built in China during the “First Five-Year Plan” period.

The fifty-year development of CHIFFO Company can be divided into four stages: The first stage, from the establishment to 1980, was during the planned economy period, focusing on the development and production of military electronic instruments, successively researching and producing 16 series and nearly 200 varieties of electronic instruments, supporting the construction and development of China’s broadcasting, communication, aerospace, and national defense modernization; The second stage, from 1981 to 1992, focused on home gas appliances with water heaters as the main product, successfully transitioning from military to civilian use; The third stage, from 1993 to 2000, involved shareholding reform, establishing Chengdu CHIFFO Electronics Co., Ltd., and listing on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 1996, creating a better capital environment and development space for the enterprise. To further develop the group company, according to the requirements of Chengdu’s shareholding reform leadership team and the actual situation of the enterprise, CHIFFO Group was established in 1995; The fourth stage, from 2000 to the present, involved ownership reform according to China’s national industrial structure adjustment and macroeconomic development requirements, transforming the original state-owned enterprise into a shareholding company, and relocating to the western district of Chengdu High-Tech Industrial Development Zone on April 18, 2003, building a higher platform for faster enterprise development.

CHIFFO Group is one of China’s largest electronic instrument production bases and one of the largest manufacturers of the three major types of water heaters (instant, storage, dual-function) in China. “CHIFFO” is the only water heater brand in western China to have won the “China Famous Brand” title twice (2002, 2005). In 2007, CHIFFO stoves won the “China Famous Brand” title, and the “CHIFFO” trademark was recognized as a “China Well-Known Trademark.” The group has fully passed the ISO9001 international quality system certification and ISO14000 environmental management system certification, has import and export business rights, and is a high-tech enterprise in Chengdu and a key advantageous enterprise at the provincial and municipal levels.

In the establishment, construction, and development of the enterprise, central leaders and superiors have given great care and support to CHIFFO. In 1984, Minister of Electronics Jiang Zemin inspected our company; Ministers Wang Zhen and Qian Min of the Fourth Machinery Department also inspected the company’s work. In September 1996, Hu Jintao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Secretariat, accompanied by provincial and municipal leaders, inspected CHIFFO. In September 1997, Fei Xiaotong, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, came to the company to inspect the implementation of the “Science and Technology Progress Law.” In March 1998, Major General Wang Tongye, Deputy Director of the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Commission, and leaders from the National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Commission, the Ministry of Electronics, and the Provincial National Defense Office inspected the military electronic instrument research and production situation at the company. Leaders of the General Equipment Department of the People’s Liberation Army have visited CHIFFO Company many times and highly appraised the company. In May 1998, Mayor Wang Rongxuan and his party inspected the company’s work. In January 2002, Governor Zhang Zhongwei and his party inspected and guided the company’s work. In May 2005, Zhang Xuezhong, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Governor Zhang Zhongwei led all delegates attending the Provincial Party Committee’s Industrial Work Conference to visit and inspect CHIFFO’s high-tech industrial park, highly appraising the work and achievements made by CHIFFO in development, reform, and relocation. On February 15, 2007, Du Qinglin, the new Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, visited CHIFFO Company to visit and comfort CHIFFO workers. All of this undoubtedly provided strong spiritual support for CHIFFO people, inspiring them to continuously innovate and advance. In October 2008, CHIFFO celebrated its fiftieth anniversary.
