“Pechoin” is a brand under Shanghai Pechoin Daily Chemical Co., Ltd. In 2008, it was awarded the title of “China’s Famous Trademark,” and prior to that, “Pechoin” had received the title of “Shanghai Famous Trademark” twice.

Founded in 1931, Pechoin is one of the oldest and most renowned skincare brands in China. It combines traditional Chinese medicine culture with the concept of traditional Chinese herbal beauty, specializing in the research, development, production, and sales of herbal cosmetics tailored to the culture, diet, and skin characteristics of the Chinese people. Pechoin selects rare natural ingredients such as snow lotus, Chinese cedar, gentian flower, glacier water, and snow grass and combines them with modern technology to provide professional-quality products.

After 90 years of history, Pechoin has evolved from “naturally non-irritating” to a new brand positioning as “Technology New Herbal.” It adheres to the skincare philosophy of “specially formulated for the skin of Chinese women” and empowers natural herbs with cutting-edge technology to deliver skincare products that are effective, non-irritating, and long-lasting.

In 2017, Pechoin became the first Gold Member of the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) in China. It has been recognized as one of the “Top 50 Most Valuable Cosmetics and Personal Care Brands in the World” by Brand Finance and ranked among the top 15 Chinese beauty brands in 2021.

The founder of “Pechoin” is named Gu Zhi Min. He was born in 1903 in the town of Huangdu in Jiading, Shanghai. At the age of fourteen, he left his hometown and moved to Shanghai to make a living. In 1929, he became a salesperson at the famous Shanghai Sincere Department Store, responsible for selling cosmetics. In 1931, Mr. Gu Zhi Min finally quit his previous job and founded his own company, Shanghai Fubeikang Cosmetics Co., Ltd., which is the predecessor of Pechoin Company.

Starting in the 1930s, Pechoin led the skincare trend with its unique fragrance, endorsed by luminous stars like Ruan Lingyu, Zhou Xuan, and Hu Die, influencing an era. Even the Song Sisters, who were prominent figures in Shanghai, and the wives of foreign diplomats from England, Germany, and France admired and used Pechoin products. Pechoin became famous both domestically and internationally for its “Oriental Charm and Fine Skincare.”

In the 1980s, Pechoin’s skincare philosophy shifted from a simple focus on “protection” to a comprehensive “care and nourishment” approach. Pechoin’s technical staff successfully developed product series such as Phoenix Pearl Cream and Phoenix Placenta Cream.

Starting in 2000, the brand and technology continuously evolved and improved, introducing star products like Pechoin Itching Relief Lotion, known as the “Chinese Vaseline,” Glycerin No. 1, SOD Honey, and Hair Conditioner.

Pechoin subsequently launched the Water Replenishing Moisturizing Series, Water Replenishing Purity Series, and Water Energy Series, gradually perfecting the Herbal Moisturizing Series. In 2015, Pechoin introduced the Pechoin Skin Revival Series, continuing to use herbal energy to create an anti-aging series and lead the domestic cosmetics market to new heights.

From 2012 to 2015, Pechoin formed strong partnerships with media platforms such as “The Voice of China.” It signed numerous celebrity endorsements, including Faye Wong, Jay Chou, and Fan Bingbing. Multiple beauty industry awards confirmed its excellent product reputation, and Pechoin continued to lead both online and offline sales throughout the year, becoming China’s No. 1 herbal skincare brand.

The first step in Pechoin Group’s Technology New Herbal strategic upgrade was a strategic partnership with its long-term partner, Merck Group of Germany. In 2020, they jointly launched the Wrinkle Rejuvenation Series: Pechoin Frame Color Wrinkle Repair Series.
